A person with a Master of Science in Data Science can find work in some surprising industries and locations, according to a report from Southern Methodist University.
The report, published in October, observed that many data science master’s degree holders are avoiding FANG — Facebook (NASDAQ: FB), Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN), Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) and Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) — in favor of careers in cancer research, energy conservation and elsewhere. Entrepreneurial data science workers are also launching their own consulting businesses, the report added
It included some tips for data science professionals looking at the next steps in their careers and wondering where to locate.
